DirecTV Inc Complaint - Something Is Wrong With My Service
Resolution Update on 08/11/2009:
DirecTv could not get our service working, and they would not let us out of the contract either.
They charged us hundreds of dollars to shut off our TV that, at that point in time, rarely worked at all anymore after several technicians messed with it.
We had to go through the Better Business Bureau in attempt to get our money back, but DirecTv lied about our attempts to correct the service. It was only after I responded, through BBB, pointing to my evidence of much time and effort spent on our part that was not matched by DirecTv, that they finally agreed to credit our account.
They still shorted us, giving us a little less than they agreed to, but we're very glad to be done with them.
MCMINNVILLE, OREGON -- I have decided that it is time to get in contact with you because of the continuous interruption in our television service. Our television turns black, and a message is displayed reading “searching for signal”. The picture will flash back on a little bit, but it will be all jumbled up, and then the screen goes back to black with the same message.
This has been going on since the beginning of our service with you, but it was short and infrequent, and so we just put up with it. This problem has become very frequent, happening often several times per each show we watch. What's worse is that it is lasting much longer, causing us to miss big chunks of our shows. Sometimes it searches for up to five minutes, and other times it “resets” itself for 30 minutes. Most days we end up turning the TV off because it is so annoying, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I prefer to choose when to turn it off by myself since I am the one who has to pay a monthly bill.
We were planning to have a get together at our home for the Super Bowl this weekend, but have had to let our friends know that there is a possibility that the TV will cut out numerous times during the game. Not only will we not have anybody over, we will be going to watch somebody else's TV as well. My husband and I have always called “The Office” and “My Name Is Earl” our date night, I'm a religious watcher of Dr. Phil, our children enjoy their cartoons, my husband is a sports fanatic, and our family has frequent movie nights. All of these things have been interrupted since we have had your service. We want it to stop.
I don't know whether this is something that can be fixed with a repair person or if it is a signal problem that is out of your control. If it can be fixed, I would like you to fix it so I can keep your service, as I do like the features. If it cannot be fixed, I expect you to release us from the contract so that we can find service that works for our location. In my experience so far, I would not believe you to be the type of company that would hold us to the contract even though you cannot provide your end of the bargain, I hope that I am correct.
Thanks for assisting me in this matter,
