PS Honda Complaint - Sans Warranty
MANHASSET, NEW YORK -- About a month ago I noticed a ticking sound from the rear of my Honda s2000. I brought the car in for service and was told they couldn't hear anything, but did admit that doesn't mean anything. I was told I should keep driving it till the noise became more evident, against my better judgment I complied. 30 Days latter the rear end blew. At the dealer I was told numerous falsehoods blaming everything except what the real problem was. As a last resort I called Honda corporate after talking to them they agreed to send a factory representative his findings were that the car was raced or abused therefore no warranty would be provided. He did however said Honda would offer a one time goodwill offer of half the repair cost of 5000 I was quoted. After checking other dealers I deduced the "real cost of the repair was 2500 what a shock! Even though I own 4 other Hondas their corp. Office was so nasty I couldn't even carry a civil conversation with them. When I spoke back with the dealer PS Honda they in formed me they do not sell parts except at list prices.
I was going to have the work done elsewhere but they had removed the broken gears and could not reassemble them therefore the car was drivable furthermore I was told I would be charged a tear down fee of 350 dollars and a fee of 25 dollars for storage after being held over a barrel I had them replace the parts at full cost. I will never buy another Honda.
