Pepsi Complaint - Not The Same Soda - New Label

Review by Marsmoma on 2009-01-28
HAILEYVILLE, OKLAHOMA -- I was an Coke drinker and didn't understand the love family and friends had for Pepsi, until one day I tried and soon crossed over. Well, Thanksgiving 2008 I was visiting family and they offered my a Pepsi, well I didn't know the label changed because from the dinner table to the kitchen the bottle looked generic, my sons and I laughed. Sure enough the soda doesn't taste the same and every since I have run all over town buying the old labeled sodas to get that original Pepsi taste.

Well now they are all gone and the new label is all they have I tried several different stores and they are all the same. Someone cut the original ingredient from the Pepsi. I am now a Coke drinker again, I guess they are the real thing.

Do you mean the plain looking cans with the "beach ball" next to the name? I just did a taste test and it tastes the same to me.
After what Coke went through when they really did change the formula, why would Pepsi do that?
Maybe your Sons knew more about that bottle than you think.

Its amazing what you can mentally convince yourself. I had a drink with dinner out one night and announced to anyone who would listen that, "this is the BEST COKE EVER!". Turned out to be a Pepsi lol. Now Cokes don't taste the same and I have drunk them my whole life.

Rum is the only thing that will make Pepsi drinkable for me.. that stuff is too sweet IMO

no diabetic should ever drink mountain dew, that stuff has 30 grams of sugar enough to put you in to shock. those red bulls taste nasty also

I hate when I order a "Coke" and they bring me a Pepsi in a restaurant! Don't they get it? If I wanted a Poopsie, I'd order a Poopsie ... but I want a COKE...a Coca-Cola! Or when I ask, "do you sell Coke"...they say, "we have Pepsi"...Is that what I asked? NOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo! That makes as much sense as answering, "We have toothpaste".

Here in the deep south, "coke" can be kind of a generic term...a lot of people use it to just mean soda. I've even heard people use the term "orange coke" infrequently. I know, we're odd.

DB, Coca-Cola is extremely protective of it's trademark. They vigorously make places that carry Pepsi announce that fact if someone asks for Coke. They do not want to see Coke become a generic term for cola drinks. Many trademark holders lost the exclusivity of their trademarks by not defending them, Cellophane, Yo-yo, Liquid Paper, and the list goes on and on. So don't be upset if you ask for Coke and they say they serve Pepsi, they have to tell you that, or Coca-Cola will sue them. Marsmoma, the Pepsi inside is the identical product it has been all along, The difference to you is psychological. Try Pepsi One. I am diabetic, but cannot stand any diet soda. Pepsi One has one calorie per serving, but does not taste like diet soda. You might give it a try.

DB, down girl!

But Starlord...all they have to do is say, "No, we don't".
I neve use Coke as a generic term...and I hate it when others do. My point is, when I ask for a "Coke", people seem to think any cola will do...and it won't, no way, now how, not in this lifetime.

DB, my ex always used 'coke' as a generic term. Tho', I think 'beer' worked better for him.

My wife favors Pepsi. When she asks for it and the waitress says they have Coke I always ask "How long will it take you to go get a Pepsi." Not in a mean way, only in fun.

In Cracker Barrel (who serves Coke) one time the waitress actually went to the employee break room and brought back a canned Pepsi from their machine.
