Duck Duck Goose Complaint - Duck Duck Goose Needs Better Employees!

Review by cammatty on 2009-01-29
GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I really am surprised I don't see another review on here for this store in Greenville, SC. I consistently try to stay out of the this toy store at all costs. My kids love it but they are on average $5.00 more than another commercial toy store directly downtown (at Christmas I paid $5.00 for a game and then last week $5.00 for an Ugly Doll) and the location I am sure is much cheaper for them so they hike up their prices but hey, I am lazy and don't want to go downtown but the real problem is the employees. They have children's nights for "fun" and I do not have the time to go into it but they are consistently rude to the kids. Once you pay for the Fun night and leave your kids the teenagers they hire to run them are mean and nasty and treat the kids like they are irritated to be there and just socialize most of the time. You call the manager (like I did) and she vehemently defends the nasty teenagers. I have been in there 3 times now since the incident I am thinking of with my sons and those teenager girls are still there and still treat you like you are annoying them. I really hate that I am going to have to drive downtown to OP Taylors from now on but can't stand the attitude. This is a small neighborhood store and I have told most moms in my neighborhood about what happened and they won't shop there anymore either and tell me similar things have happened to them so I am sure the owner wonders why all of a sudden business is slow. Probably blames it on the economy! No, it is that you are $5.00 more on everything in your store and your teenage staff are running your customers away.

When will stores realize they have to hire people out of high school and needing of jobs or they will lose business. Not all, but most teens today don't care if your shop stays open! When you close they will go get a job in the mall!

Good work habits, like any life-skill is learned. Teens in the workplace are learning what it takes to be a good worker. When teens misbehave or mistreat customers, their behavior more reflects poor supervision than 'teens are bad in general'. Cut the kids some slack. They have a disinterested and unmotivated boss who is more interested in teen workers for their low wages, than his/her responsibility in teaching them good work habits.

The OP mentioned an incident without providing details, yet continues to drop off her sons there. You care but for your convenience you don't care about what happened.
