Travelocity.com Complaint - BEWARE! - Internet Travel Search
I went online to check out some travel reservations through Air-Tran. The particular dates I was looking for did not yet have the schedules published (September). I went onto Travelocity.com. Miracle of miracles, Travelocity.com gave me the dates I needed as well as the airfare. Being a somewhat intelligent individual, I decided to call Air-Tran to find out why Travelocity had the airfares that the carrier didn't. They told me the above, stating that what Travelocity was doing is using Air-Tran's current schedule. I reiterated my understanding to the representative - basically that Travelocity was selling me a ticket that may not be valid at the time I wanted to travel. She told me that was correct.
Just a word of caution, if you find a flight through Travelocity, you may want to contact the airline first to make sure it is a published and scheduled flight. You might even find that the fare is lower directly from the airline. In my case, there was no e-ticketing and Travelocity wanted to charge me an extra $19.95 for second-day delivery of my ticket. There was not option for regular mail delivery!
