Home Depot Complaint - Horrible Employment
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Hello, I have worked at Home Depot for nearly half a year now and have had nothing but trouble since the day I started. I am a cashier and have to deal with ridiculous rules over and over again until my head spins. First off, we have to call book keeping and order a Till to be sent to us through a tube system. If you are running any register other than returns, you only get 8 five dollar bills and 40 one dollar bills. Over 90% of our daily sales are purchases over $100. Why in the world would the company only give us $40 in change? We are constantly on the phone asking for money and it always makes the customer frustrated when having to wait 10 minutes or more to receive change. Also, we have door alarms that activate 100 or more times daily and we have to log down every item, the cost, where it came from and why it made the alarm go off. This disrupts the sale and causes needles paper work to be done, which causes the customer to have to wait. Another thing that happens is departments such as paint, hardware and plumbing with a major lack of employee coverage.
Countless people leave the building because they can't get help from anyone and the managers continuously allow this to happen. We also offer loading assistance to customers who make purchases that are too big for them to load into their car or truck. This is also a big joke, because nearly every time this situation occurs, the customer is waiting 10 or more minutes for an associate to get to them. Our store only has one employee who is part time that has the actual job title of "loader". The rest of the time, customers have to wait for someone to come from their department and assist, which takes a very long time. We as cashiers just have to stand by idly as the customer loses patience. It's ridiculous. My biggest complaint with the company though, are the hours. Myself and many other employees work at 6 am or early on some days, and on other days have to work till 11 pm at night.
The hours and days are so random that it's impossible to get a sleep schedule, which is unhealthy and potentially dangerous. Why in the world is this going on? Because it's a big corporation and no body cares about the little guy.
