WAMU/JPMorgan/Chase Complaint - Please Contact Your Congressmen And Senators

Review by Maitig on 2009-02-03
My experience is like the reviews I've read. This company takes no responsibility and seems to seek out reasons to increase their overcharging. I was charged a late payment fee, even though my payment was received, and noted on the website, 5 days before the due date. The problem was the amount due had changed since I set up my payment. I have another credit card, and am able to set up a payment at whatever date I need to and it is accurate. I called customer service, I assume in India and they were polite but claimed they had no idea how to reach the corporate office so I could make a complaint. They were unwilling to reverse charges until I made the full amount they claim due and then I would be allowed to call back and beg for a reversal.

Please contact your representatives about reinstating usury laws to protect us all from this greed.

You knew the amount due was less than what you paid, how is that the banks fault?

I don't understand the complaint. You admit to underpaying (inadvertently), and they told you that when you made up the difference you could request a rebate of the late charge. What should I tell my congressman?

I don't understand how the amount due can change after you sent the payment.

The amount due must have changed and the OP did not make the adjustment.

The responsibility to pay the correct amount is yours - - not the bank's.
