E*Trade Complaint - Do Not Use E*Trade - Online Brokerage
MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA -- After years of being an ETrade customer with no complaints, ETrade did something horrible. They sold over $500 of my kid's college fund - without notifying me first - because of a backlog of hidden fees I didn't know about. Since I originally signed up, E*Trade changed their policy and will charge brokerage accounts $40 every three months if there is no activity on the acct.
I just spent 55 minutes on the phone with E*Trade customer service and we could not find any of these $40 charges on their web site. They're hidden fees, and E*Trade knows it because they flat will not make any adjustments. Their line is "It's the responsibility of the customer to monitor their acct".
That's fine, but it should be the responsibly of E*Trade to clearly indicate what you are being charged, and they do not. Don't let E*Trade steal your kids college money.
