DirecTV Inc Complaint - Charges Dispute
COOKEVILLE, TENNESSEE -- I had been a Direct TV subscriber for several years at different addresses (my family and I move a lot for work reasons) I am a huge NFL fan and love the NFL package. We were renting a house in Tennessee that the owner ran into serious financial problems, he had to vacate the home, which meant that my family would have to move.
We moved to a city closer to my wifes family and the apartment building that we moved into would under NO circumstances allow a direct TV dish to be mounted, I asked repeatably for this as I wanted the NFL package.
I contacted direct TV and explained to them that I was under no circumstances allowed to have a dish installed, the CSR that I was speaking said that he understood, they hated to loose me as a customer but since I was ABSOLUTELY not allowed to have a Dish that the contract cancellation fee would be waived. I had to do the same thing with Sprint PCS as my phones would not get reception in our home area. Sprint kept their word and waived the fee.
I was told when I moved that some Fed Ex boxes would arrive and to send my equipment back and that after my equipment was returned that my account would be settled. I did this as soon as the boxes arrived.
It has been nearly a year now and I have not received a bill. I got a letter from a collections agency stating that I owe over $900.00 for unreturned equipment.
I called Direct TV and they could not locate my account, the lady that I spoke with said that I probably was out of their system as I am no longer a subscriber.
Today I got a call from a collection agency about a $900.00 debt for Direct TV, I called them and after 1 hour on the phone they found my account info and said that I owe $902.00 for. service cancellation (that I was told was waved) un returned equipment (that I returned) and a final bill (that I did not receive) and some Pay Per View movies downloaded to the receiver( I did not purchase these but my Kids may have, I will pay for them)
We are buying a new house and I planned on having HD Direct TV, if this this ordeal is not resolved by Direct TV I will never again use their service and will advise ANYONE who listens not to
