Ice Cold Air Informative - Price Gauging - price Gougeing

Review by Anonymous on 2004-03-23
PINELLAS PARK, FLORIDA -- Ice cold Air represents that thair labor at $25. an ;hour. What they do not tell you is that is how many hours is by the book that tells how long a job should take. I was quoted 2.8 hrs for a jobb i could have done in an hour were I not disabled. nowhere in thair shop do they have a sign advising you of this. In addition, they used the wrong cartridge at first on the computer analysis (ford) on a plymouth which resulted in a bunch of wrong codes being loaded and they tried to tell me I had a ton of problems - read expensive. They refused to reset the computer by lifting the negative battery terminal saying they could do it with thair computer. This is B.S. I came home , read the computer thru the key switch as described in the repair manual and got the same codes they did. I then reset the computer by disconnecting the battery cable and I came up with no codes whatsoever. As far as i am concerned, this place will rip you aff every chance they get. So not go there - you will be overcharged and get poor quality work.
bewartre of this place.

I agree with you on the computer reset. Seems simple enough they should have figured it out. I do not agree with you on the hours. Shops ALL charge by book hours. That's standard proceedure, regardless of whether they finish it sooner or longer, and certainly regardless of how fast you think you can fix it.

Guess what
Wrongcartridge in a scanner will not result in a wrog string of codes, it will result in a no communication error. If the car was post 1995, OBD II codes are universal between makes and models for emissions related issues.
Un hooking a battery cable does not "reset" an automotive computer,as you have merely just dumped the codes and any information relevant to fixing the vehicle, as by now you probably know.
