X10 Wireless Technology, Inc. Complaint - Never Never Land - Wireless Video Sender/Receiver System

Wireless Video Sender/Receiver System - Complaint
Review by jrpcs on 2009-02-06
SAN DIEGO -- I purchased a wireless video sender/receiver system form X10 back in October of 2008. I spent a week trying to get the thing to work with frequent 30 min wait calls to their Tech Support. I finally gave up and asked for a return authorization number and sent the item back to x10. Weeks went by, and no response. I called and was told it needed to be researched and they would contact me. Weeks went by again. I called and using the Return Authorization Number they verified that the item had been received.....pause. So I asked when the credit would be issued. Their response...well we were waiting for your instructions! There was a letter included with the item verifying that the item was to be returned for credit...since their item didn't work as advertised. OK we'll issue a credit it will take a few weeks! WEEKS later...nothing. I call X10...they put me through the 30 min wait as per usual, then they say there is no records of the item having been returned!!! They need the documentation for the return...this after receiving 2 verifications from them they had the item. All call records relative to the order had been deleted. Long story short - NUMEROUS calls to speak to supervisor have never been returned and every time I call (8 times now) they take another message.

NEVER NEVER buy anything from X10, they are not a reputable company and use underhanded tactics when dealing with customers.

I would sue them in small claims court, this sounds like an expensive item.

It's way too late to do a credit card charge back. Since you have 2 written verification from them you might consider filing a wire-fraud or postal fraud suit. Both are federal offenses.

When I attempted to visit their web pages it threw dozens of 'cookies' at my browser. I had to restart my PC to stop them.

I had the exact same experience except the year is 2011/12. I will be filing a wire fraud charge.
