Ashley Furniture Informative - Watch Out About Purchasing Warranty
HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA -- I purchased a coffee table, 2 end tables, a couch and 2 chairs from Ashley Furniture store in Huntsville AL. I was told by the sales person that the delivery people would move my old furniture for me, this was important to me as I had just had a baby and would be home alone with the baby when it was delivered a month from when I purchased it. When the delivery people arrived they said they didn't move old furniture and the sales people would tell you anything to make a sale. Also, they said they have moved peoples furniture for them before and the people "throw them a $20 bill". I told them they could just lay it anywhere then because I didn't have $20 and I just had a baby. They were nice enough to go ahead and do it for me anyway. We purchased the warranty for an extra almost $300.00 from them, was told by salesperson it covers anything, example if your child writes all over the couch with a marker all you have to do is call and they will replace it. Seemed like a good investment at the time.
A couple of months later while turning the cushions over I noticed a rip in the couch, we hardly ever sat on the couch and mostly sat in the chairs, our son was only a couple of months old at the time so he didn't do it. I called the warranty company and they sent someone out only to tell me that it wouldn't be covered under my warranty and offered no real explanation as to why. My personal opinion is to ask to read the warranty information before purchasing it and not just believe what the sales people tell you, unfortunately most of them will tell you whatever to make a sale, not all, but most.
Also, my "real wood" coffee and end tables came and they were press board with real wood around the outside. Waste of money.
