Wal-Mart - Lindale Complaint - Deactivated My Debit Card
LINDALE, TEXAS -- I shop at Wal-Mart in Lindale. I had a incident a little before Christmas. I went to the check out counter, and the lady in front of me was trying to pay with he credit card and the cashiers machine would not take the card. I was thinking well maybe it was that lady's card that was the problem. Well when it was my turn to check out I went to pay with my card. The machine wouldn't take mine either well the lady took my card and rubbed what seemed to be "hand sanitizer" in te back of my card where the magnetic strip is. I was thinking what is this lady thinking? Well obviously nothing after trying my card again and it not working. I just told the lady that I would just pay her cash for my things. She was like" o no ill get it to work". So once again she rubbed the "hand sanitizer" on the back of my card and this time she put it directly on the plate that deactivated the sensory items. I didn't really think of it at the moment and finally got her to stop trying my card and just take the cash cause her line was backing up. So after me and my husband went into Brookshires to pick up a few things and went to check out. Once again the card wasn't working in the machine. Since I had worked there a few years back I was just thinking well it was just another system problem.
I went over to the Southside ATM to withdraw the cash to cover it and the machine read in- valid card swipe. I started to get a little aggravated and decided I would go Monday to the bank and see what was going on. Well I told the teller what had happened and she informed me that when the lady put my card the the deactivated plate. It had erased my card and wasn't able to do anything about it. This was a week or two before Christmas and I "needed" to get my Christmas shopping done. I don't uses checks and all I use is my debit. I had to have some temp. Checks done and found out that most places do not even accepted them and so I had to just get cash. I hate carrying cash around and especially around that time of year. I had to wait at least 2 weeks to have a "new" card sent to me I was pretty up set and hope that the other customers didn't have the same problem as I did. I just wish someone would tell the cashiers what would happen in cases like that. I know some people don't think about it. But I had hell trying to get things straightened out.
Also I shop at this Wal-Mart every weekend and most of the time about 4 times a week. It seems like most of the time they will have just 2 or 3 cashiers open. Come on, really Wal-Mart if tons of people are in the store try to make it convenient and have a few more cashiers when there are at least 6 to 8 people in a line waiting for about 30min. There have been several times that I have had to wait in lane for the longest cause there was no one open. I have to admit in the last few weeks it seems like it has gotten a little better I just hope it keeps improving.
