Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Resort Complaint - Deceptive Internet Practices - Read the Fine Print

Review by No More Holiday Inns on 2009-02-10
COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA -- In the fine print agreement there is 100 percent charge for cancellation. It is not clear until one looks at the confirmation e-mail after the fact or someone at the desk is quick to point it out when they are called to cancel reservations. One can make reservations on the internet but can not change reservations on the internet.

Please file complaints with the Florida Business Professional Regulations, Attorney General Office and get a lawyer to stop deceptive practices and less than clear or honest practices that allow business to take money with no services rendered.

Most hotels offer discounted rates that are nonrefundable and don't allow changes. They also offer refundable rates that are about 10% more. I went to this hotel's website, and I picked the cheapest rate for March 10 for one night. Right under the price of $99 under the "Room and Rate Information" box was this text: "Rate Description: Special Savings! Reservations require full prepayment for the entire stay at time of booking. Fully non refundable. Prepayment is charged to credit card between time of booking and day of arrival and is non refundable. No refunds if cancelled or changed."

Pretty clear to me, and this is industry standard. I suggest you read the rates and dates you are booking.

What Ben_there said. Plus it's in bold red lettering. You also have to click a box saying you agree to the non-refundable rate twice. I don't see any fine print on the site....
