MILLBURY, MASSACHUSETTS -- During a recent visit to Kays while looking for a gift for a friend I was talking to a very nice young lady and getting answers to my questions in a professional way when a manager type person came over listened for a moment then rudely interrupted us and criticized the employee in front of me. This bothered me and I decided not to buy there again and went to another store finding what I was looking for.
I have to say the employee at Kays was very knowledgeable and professional and handled the situation well.

I just HATE when managers act like this; they need to realize that it makes customer extremely uncomfortable.

Similar thing happened when I went into a local paint store chain location. I looked the manager square in the face and told him the sales person was doing just fine without his interference. He huffed and puffed and walked away. I went ahead and made my purchase as the salesperson did not deserve to get dinged because of a moron for a manager.

While the manager may have been unprofessional, going to another store entirely may not have been the wisest choice. If the salesgirl (who you admit was knowledgeable and very nice) is paid on commission then by leaving you penalized her for something that was not her fault. Even if she isn't on commission and is salaried or paid hourly, she probably has sales quotas to meet. Best to do exactly what superbowl did.
