Best Buy Complaint - Run From The Geek Squad
VACAVILLE, CALIFORNIA -- January 8 I took my computer into the Geek Squad at the Vacaville CA Best Buy again for the same problem I experienced in April 2008. After paying the $69 to have it assessed, they told me again that I needed to back up my information, re-load my operating system. They told me again, that there was a small problem with my hard drive but didn't "think" I needed to replace it. I opted to have my hard drive replaced so the cost would only be $80 more while the computer was apart, instead of $350 + $80.
Beginning of the THIRD week I tried to call to find out the status of my computer. The geek squad's phone rang, rang, they would pick up, put it on hold and then it would disconnect. I tried that day and the following. Ended up calling the corporate office and they set up a three way conversation with the Geek Squad. They said my computer would be done in a week or so. The following day I get a call from Vacaville saying that unfortunately they had 'FRIED' my motherboard and they would have to send it to Chino to be fixed, would take two weeks, no charge. Two weeks later, I call Vacaville, they tell me that the notes say that Chino was waiting for a call from Gateway because they were having a compatibility problem, but they couldn't contact Chino because they don't have a phone. So again I call corporate, their file says my computer is done and should be shipped out "soon".
Automated calls start telling me to come pick up my computer. So I call Vacaville to make sure it was ready. COUGH, Vacaville tells me they neglected to pull the tag and complete the work, it wasn't ready and didn't know when it would be ready, "she had been gone for three days".
I make a call to the GM of the store, very nice woman, apologizes and tells me she or the mgr of the Geek squad would call me that afternoon. Well I got that call, geek squad mgr is out sick, but there was a problem. Vacaville is having a problem backing up my information and "thinks" that the Chino repair department didn't replace my motherboard because of a compatibility problem......
DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO THE GEEK SQUAD FOR REPAIRS. I have heard so many excuses, and have been lied to by these people. Amazing that during this terrible economy that a company that actually has business coming in treat their customers this way.
Bottom line, either the management aren't aware of what is happening within their store OR they don't give a shyte, neither of which is acceptable to me.......
