Brookstone Complaint - Turkey of a Company - Defective Product Return Policy
MARLBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS -- I recently returned a little digital photo viewer which was defective, to my local mall, where I've made MANY Brookstone products over the past couple of years, and am known to the sales staff.
Though they admitted they sold me the product and that it was defective, they refused to honor the warranty because I did not have the original receipt, but could only prove from my credit card statement I purchased the product (I don't keep original receipts for most products which cost under $50.00, but do keep credit card statements, which are virtually always honored elsewhere.) I wrote an email to the company asking that they reconsider but got a very arrogant response which basically told me to get lost.
Here we are, in a recession, and a customer who has been a regular purchaser is treated with utter disregard and unpleasantness over a very cheap item! Sure, I may not have noticed the very fine print about the original receipt, but to outrage a customer, who will never purchase another item, seems very stupid, particularly when a simple exchange would have been easy, and done in many stores. This is all aside from the fact that the product failed!
Anyhow, no more Brookstone. Caveat Emptor.
