Washington Mutual Complaint - Website Rejecting Payments
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- On Feb. 3, 2009, WAMU closed my account claiming that there were NSF on my bank accounts for payments made from their website.
I checked with the Bank and put the bank representative on the phone to talk with the WAMU representative The WAMU representative said there was nothing she could do. She claimed she was going to transfer the call to her supervisor and instead hung up on me and the bank rep.
Apparently, beginning on January 29, 2009, the WAMU website for payments has been erroneously marking my payments as returned from the bank.
WAMU charged me the payment I made, plus a $39.00 fee. This happened again with another payment I made on the website. Again they charged me the $39.00 fee and they claimed the bank rejected the payment.
I went to the bank, got a print out of the accounts proving there were no NSF's. The B of A representative said that WAMU was giving me the run around because both of my accounts have overdraft protection.
In the meantime, while I was dealing with this mess, and Feb. payment was due, I was afraid to the the website payment method so I called in a payment, had to pay a $14.95 telephone fee, plus now a late fee of $39.00.
I have spent countless hours putting together the documents to prove the error is on their part, and then mailed it each one of the four different addresses they have.
Anyone have any of these same issues. I suspect that this is their way of getting some cash flow right before they become Chase.
