AGPC, Inc. Complaint - Unbusinesslike Conduct
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- My husband and I entered the office of AGPC, Inc. based on the sign that advertised 24-48 hour income tax refund. The preparer spent approx. 4 hours with us, then had to phone her boss because her PC did not contain the forms needed for us to properly file our return. The office was closing, so we left the IRS copy of our W-2's with the preparer, and the boss promised to work on our return from a remote location, and we would be back the next day to sign the paperwork. The forms were not ready until the end of the next day, and the only thing they would give us to sign was a form 8879 that showed the total of our tax refund, and asked us to sign that we agree and that our return was correct. The preparer refused to allow us to see the return. We asked for our W-2's so we could take them elsewhere, and we were told they were not on premises anymore. We felt desperate for the refund, so we signed the form. The next day, we were told that IRS had rejected our return, resulting in the "boss" making a change so that it would be accepted. We again went to the office to sign another form 8879 for a reduced amount. The next day, we were told that IRS accepted our return, but our RAL application was declined, so we would have to wait 2 weeks before receiving a check. When the check finally arrived, we gave our ID to pick up the check and we were again asked to sign another form accepting terms that we were not permitted to see. We were shown a sealed envelope and we were told that the "terms" were within the contents of the envelope. When we refused to sign, the tax preparer said we would not be able to receive our check. We signed under pressure, and we stated that we were not going to cash it at this office, as they would charge us another $150 to cash the check. The tax preparer insisted that we would not be able to cash the check anywhere else. We left the office with the check and found another check cashing service that cashed our check for half the cost.
Also, while we were having our taxes prepared that first evening, an incident occured with another customer, and the preparer told us all about that customer defaulting on his loan and how the whole incident came about...I wonder what she is discussing with other about us at this very moment.
