As you can see from my receipt, I bought a Hyundai monitor in April of last year. The main reason I chose this particular model was that there was a $50 rebate associated with the purchase.
I sent in the rebate along with all the requested information. Over 4 months had passed before I decided to contact Hyundai again. To my surprise, and the only thing favorable I’ll say about this whole ordeal, is that the rebate department did call me about this. (Gayle/ 408-232-8651). She told me that I needed another part of the label that had the S/N #. So much to my surprise (and I’m sure Hyundai’s) I had saved the box and found this other little label that Gayle said I needed. So I removed it and sent it back “in care of” Gayle. That was in September of 2003. Needless to say, I have yet to receive this rebate.
A few thoughts come to mind regarding this process:
Why doesn’t the rebate request ask for this S/N # since it is so vital to the rebate?
Why is this S/N information not attached to the other label that was located right above it?
(It almost seems that Hyundai intentionally created two labels believing that the customer would only send one back and then negating the rebate requirements. I wonder how many others, like myself, have only sent back the one major label on the box and never received a rebate from Hyundai. And then I wonder how many people actually saved their boxes so that they could find and then send this other part of the label and return it. I’m guessing … not many.)
And finally, after sending in ALL the information I was instructed to do, why am I still without a refund check for $50………NINE MONTHS LATER?
Does this sound like a scam to anyone else besides me?
