American Airlines Complaint - Horrible international travel experience with AA
DALLAS -- AA Customer Relations:
I would like to bring to your attention the hardships we had to face
during our recent international travel on AA.
I am planning to contact BBB and seek legal recourse on the issues we
faced during travel but would like to hear American Airlines' response
before I do this.
My husband, my 4-month-old infant son and I were traveling from DFW to
Mumbai (India) during which we had to deal with some extreme
inconveniences and most of this can be attributed to AA's negligence and
- This trip was to attend my brother's wedding on December 19th * we
missed an important family event by a day (arrived on Dec 20th instead
of Dec 18th) leading to a lot of emotional distress for our families and
us. We reached exactly 2 whole days behind schedule.
- My 4-month old baby and I fell ill due to the strenuous travel that
we had to endure and required medical intervention to recover, instead
of being able to enjoy this time with our family.
- We requested a bassinet for my infant son during all legs of travel
to ensure that it would not be too tiring for him * while AA messed up
our travel plans and re-booked and re-routed us, the bassinets were not
made available to us. We had to hold him in our arms through out the
- Both my husband and I are vegetarians * we requested the Asian
Vegetarian meals at the time of booking the tickets and every time we were
re-booked and re-routed. Yet no Vegetarian food was made available to us
on ANY of the re-routed flights. Due to American Airlines' negligent
booking, we also spent hours at Paris (CDG) International Airport without
any food (since AA did not give us our boarding passes during our delay
at the airport and without that we were not allowed access to the
- Worst of all, due to lack of food on the flights that took us to
Mumbai and during over 9-hour stop at Paris Airport, I was not able to
nurse my infant son due to which he was hungry and cranky, in addition to
being tired from the flights.
- Our luggage reached us 5 days after we landed * we had to go out and
buy essentials and clothes for the baby and ourselves as soon as we
landed. These were expenses unplanned for on the trip.
- We had to incur extra expenses due to change of local (Jet Airways)
flights in India, for the essentials we had to buy when we landed and
also for the doctor/pediatrician visits and prescription medicines to
recover from the travel.
