Coca Cola Complaint - New Bottle Caps - Bottled Coke

Bottled Coke - Complaint
Review by Ronner on 2009-02-18
TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN -- After 50 years of using your product I will no longer be able to purchase it. I absolutely can't get these new tops off. I will find another new drink to use. Thank You

so what is the issue?
Posted by Stew on 2009-02-19:
The issue is the OP can't uncap the new coke bottles. That's a big issue if you ask me because who wants a soda they can't open.

Helpful post. Coke has joined prescription bottles as things people struggle to get open. This will be an issue for Coke's marketing as the Boomers age. They're not going to be happy when their arthritic hands can't open Coke products.

I can't say I've noticed them harder to open but I do have an issue with them. We load a vending machine at an office location with the 20 oz bottles. Almost every other delivered case to stock it has one bottle with a mis-threaded cap, making it leak and flat all while technically being unopened. We have to pitch them and since we keep the price low for employees, it's a bit frustrating from a loss stand point.

I've had a problem with gatorade bottle caps for years. They are the twist off caps. Last summer I sprained my wrist trying to open one of those damn things. Sometimes I wonder if these companies even test this stuff?
Posted by Ghost of Doc J on 2009-02-19:
Jeez, Slim, I wish you filled the machines at our hospitals. The machine owner does it at about 10% of the bottles are flat d/t loose caps.

I totally Agree...in fact I had planned on writing a complaint about the same thing. I have to use a pair of pliers to unscrew the caps. This has been for at least six months or so. Even when I replace the cap back on the 2 liter bottles, sometimes I still can't get it back off without the help of pliers! I thought maybe it was just me, but since I've been staying with my Dad, I've had him try opening my Coke bottles and he can't either. They obviously changed something and it's not good. Sometimes when I have a half of a bottle of Coke left, the entire plastic bottle will twist and crinkle, but the dang cap won't come off.

I won't stop drinking Coke...but I will use the pliers or cut the top off to get to it...you know how us Coke addicts are!

Crabby...it's pop! NOT Soda! Just POP....P-O-P! POP!

Get one of those rubber material, such as those where you place your cell phone on the dashboard in the car, and use it to aid you twist the caps.

I hurt my wrist one day trying to open a 20 oz Diet Coke bottle... ended up having to open it with a pair of pliers. What's up with that?

basher you and I merely see things differently and that's okay. You're okay and I'm okay. Let's just be okay in our differences, okay?
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-19:
Crabby that's Basher with a capital "B"...and the Basher is ok with us seeing things differnently, I can't expect you to be right like me all the time.

Mr. Mike...I have one of those old fashioned bottle openers that you turn the handle and it adjusts to the size of the lids...but that's at home and I used that instead of pliers, here at my Dad's, I use the pliers.
Posted by KCRovert on 2009-02-19:
fyi DB, it's SODA :-p
Posted by Stew on 2009-02-19:
Well basher at least we agree on something. We both use pliers to open our sodas.
Posted by Face to Face on 2009-02-19:
thats pretty drastic, not using a product that you've used for "50" years because the caps are a little tighter...I hear pepsi caps come off easy.
Posted by zzrokk on 2009-02-19:
I sympathize with Ronner because of his/her age but with you youngsters here, there is no excuse. With all of the gadgets to open containers now it's time to "MAN UP".
Pliers? What, there were no HAMMERS laying around?
In these cases you do like I do when opening those drinks with twist off tops....USE YOUR TEETH!
Posted by TheNewSheriff on 2009-02-19:
zz, quit being so contrary. How would you expect to get these open when your hand is greasy from keel or raw wings?
Posted by zzrokk on 2009-02-19:
What else, open it with the dish rag in your hand.
Posted by Ghost of Doc J on 2009-02-19:
Actually, ZZ, I'm impressed that Crabman uses tools. I figured Okies would just bang 'em open with a big rock. I'd pay for a video of him opening a Coke. It would be like watching cavemen discover fire.
Posted by zzrokk on 2009-02-19:
Doc, I'd like to see that OHIOAN use those pliers. She has priors for getting her body parts caught in vise like tools! Scary.
Posted by old fart on 2009-02-19:
All you have to do is run the cap under hot tap water for 15 seconds and the top will twist off just fine..
(I learned that buying Walmart brand pop...)
Posted by TheNewSheriff on 2009-02-19:
See how much you can learn from an old fart?
Posted by Stew on 2009-02-19:
Like they say there's no fart like an old fart.
Posted by TheNewSheriff on 2009-02-19:
Who says that?
Posted by old fart on 2009-02-19:
Yeah sheriff, who says that...?
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-19:
KCR...Don't force me to smack the silly out of you!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-19:
Crabby that's Basher with a capital "B"...
Crabby, it's POP...not Soda, Just POP...P-O-P...POP!

ZZ...what do you know about Hammers? I thought you were more familiar with the different uses for screwdrivers!

A dishcloth does not work...I tried that.

Old F...Running hot water over the cap wouldn't work, that's for jelly jars and honey!

Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-19:
ZZ...you just keep your mind off my body parts!
Posted by ejack053824 on 2009-02-19:
What a bunch of wimps in here!! You all need to hit the gym and get stronger or something. Geeeesshhhh!! I have no problems open up a bottle of Coke. LOL!! Just kidding guys... I to have noticed that you have to put the Coke bottle in a hydraulic machine just to twist the cap off. A week ago my CO was trying to get a cap off of a Diet Coke and all I could hear in his office was "Damn it's", "Motherfer" and so forth. LOL!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-19:
Now come on....I KNOW your CO would never use that kinda language!
Posted by ejack053824 on 2009-02-19:
You don't know him like I do Basher. He invented the vulgar language category.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-19:
Well...you give him a message for me. You tell him the Basher doesn't appreciate his language and I am coming to the base to show him just HOW MUCH I don't appreciate it...we'll see what kind of a man he is!
Posted by ejack053824 on 2009-02-20:
Basher..I just relayed the message to him and all he did was give you the "finger" gesture and rolled his eyes. LOL!!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-20:
Yeah? Only because he knows the punishment he'd get if he did that to my face. He's such a little man in a big man's world! LOL!
Posted by ejack053824 on 2009-02-23:
Basher...my CO would pop you like a zit on a teenager's face! POP! LOL!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-23:
Hey...I'm always up for a challenge...but I see no competition with your sissypants CO!
Posted by jktshff1 on 2009-02-23:
Our taxpayer dollars at work!!!LOL!!!
Posted by ejack053824 on 2009-02-24:
Sissypants CO? LMAO!! Yeah a man who has served 3 tours of Vietnam, Prisoner of War, and winner of the Silver Star with 2 clusters is a sissy I guess.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2009-02-24:
Well....compared to my Five Stars earned on M3C...yeah, he's a sissypants! LOL!
