DirecTV Inc Complaint - DirecTV Nightmares, Scams And Incorrect Billing
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- DirecTV is horrible. I got this for my parents as a gift on November 2, 2008. They took over 8 hours to install it. They should have told me it would take that long. There was a bunch of stuff that happen that day, but I want to shorten the nightmare story and jump to their billing scam.
I ordered the International Jade world package for $36.99 and then the prefer choice for $9.99, then a 2nd Receiver (or what you call that box) for $4.99. Jade world and prefer choice guarantee price for the next 12 months. I also signed up for automatic bill pay at installation day and talked to DirecTV customer service when their installation guy couldn't answer some of my questions.
I didn't get the deal for my first month, which I didn't really make a big deal of out. My bill for December through February (as of this month) is still incorrect. I cannot believe DirecTV cannot do simple math that a 2nd grader can even do without problem. Here is the math for what my 2nd month bill suppose to be (Cc 2008)
$36.99 + 9.99 + 4.99 = $51.97 + 4.55 (I assume sale tax they are charging me is 8.75%) = 56.52.
My bill is over $57 for February. What happen to my discount of $5 when I signed up for automatic bill pay on installation date?????. My bill should be $56.52 - $5 = 51.52. If there is additional fees that I don't know about with this company, someone please point them out to me because DirecTV isn't able to. They messed up all my bills in the previous months. Last month I called DirecTV for the 5 time to remind them that when my free trial of HBO/Showtime/Cinmax (3 month free) is over I don't want it. This representative told me that they will have to charge me for it, then refund my money at the end of the month. I have a big headache because how can you charge someone for something that suppose to be in the free trial period. I believe DirecTV has two problems.
1. DirecTV loves to scam customers and sometimes they know they maybe able to get away with it
2. DirecTV hires people that should be cleaning toilets instead of answering billing questions.
I have not seen other cable companies have so many complaints as DirecTV.
Remember to audit all your monthly statements if you are doing automatic bill pay. DirecTV as of today haven't got my bill right. I started service on November 2, 2008. They also lied about their International package Jade World. In this package there suppose to be 3 Cantonese channels and 2 mandarin channels. My parents told me that the 3 so called Cantonese channels also have Mandarin in it. Damn!!! Why don't they print that in their online package information that the 3 Cantonese channels can also have some Mandarin language news and so forth. This package is not cheap which can only 5 channels for $36.99 plus tax. Packages that contain only Mandarin channels comes much cheaper from DirecTV, Cishnetwork, or Comcast.............

Lastly they train their representatives to play dumb. If you call, most of the time there is at least a 45 minutes waiting time. I hope you have a speaker phone if you want to call DirecTV. Your arms will be sore if you have to used a hand held phone and that don't count the time you have to spent talking to them. On the average I spent an hour which included the waiting time to get a representative on the line.
