How Can I Get The Annual Fee Of $59 Removed. I Canceled The Card
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA -- I was told there was no annual fee and I would get a $15 discount on the iron I purchased. Instead, a $59.00 iron cost me $156.41 .

The fee is listed on your initial receipt and the paperwork that came in the mail. It is unfortunate that the salesperson didn't explain this to you, but you can call HSBC directly and they will remove it if you are persistent. Hope this helps.

I agree with Mario too. It wouldn't be worth it to them to argue because they never could be sure you weren't blatantly told the wrong thing. They should remove it with a call and maybe not even require you to close it.

The Sears clerk told there was no fee. HSBC stonewalled it. They offered to cut the annual to $29 and increase my limit to $450. I told them I had no need for a card with any annual fee and they asked if I wanted to close it. I said yes then on call backs after talking to Sears they said they could do nothing as the account was closed. Is there a class action suit here? I don't care about the crummy $59... but this is just plain wrong and maybe there is some collusion with Sears because I really wasn't given proper disclosure. The application after I finally got to read it says, "Annual rate: $0, $19 or $59 depending on your creditworthiness". My rating is low because I have no record... I usually pay cash for everything. I didn't find out about the $59 until I got the card. I will spend $$$ to get these crooks.

Ok, if you listen to me very carefully, you can find out EXACTLY what disclosure you signed. Take your disclosure form to the Sears store that you signed it at. Tell them that you want to see the top part which has a BIG (X, Y & Z) option on the top. The Sears store holds it for up to 90 days before sending it in to HSBC. Next to the X, Y or Z, there is a place where you HAVE to sign before he hands you the disclosure. If you signed the X spot, it CLEARLY states $59 ANNUAL FEE. IF YOU DID SIGN THAT SPOT, go home and get some rest. It's over. If they tell you that they've already sent it in, ask to see the store manager (not an ASM), the store manager. Explain your situation and dissatisfaction to him/her. If he is unable or unwilling to help you resolve this, ask for his DISTRICT MANAGERS name and then start from there. I GUARANTEE you that taking these simple steps WILL resolve your situation.

Sounds like Mario knows what he is talking about. I'd do what he says and see what happens. It couldn't hurt.

Mario was right. Didn't even have to go to an ASM... just a section manager. He just listened to my story said he couldn't rescind the $59 HSBC charge but he would put a $59 credit on my balance. Looked at my receipt and did it on the spot. That took care of the problem. Still glad I canceled the HSBC card. Thanks Mario... you are indeed Great
