Target Complaint - Target Credit Card
NORFOLK, VIRGINIA -- I had a credit card with Target (Red Card) and recently I noticed that my interest rate jumped up higher then it had been (never missed a payment in fact I always paid more the they said I had to) and when I called about it I was not given a direct answer as to why. I hit some hard times and was not able to pay my January or February payment (I called them in advance) and about a week after my February payment was due I was able to make payment in full (entire amount due on my card $616). I then went online to make sure my payment posted and noticed that they had in fact closed my account after I made that payment. Upon calling in to the customer service department I was told that they tried to contact me and let me know that due to the fact that I was two months late they closed my account. They had my cell phone number but I never received a call or a voice mail from them stating this. When I asked about them reopening the account even if it was only for $100 (to keep my credit report looking decent) they told me that due to the fact that I was two months late that was policy it did not matter that I called in and told them I was having some financial problems or that I was able to pay the account off in full days after the second month's due date.
I would not recommend that anyone gets a Target Card, I have talked with others and they have had some similar problems with the credit line reducing and interest rates going up without notice.
