Nuance Complaint - Dragon Naturally Speaking Non Support

I have used Dragon Naturally Speaking for years, producing up to 100 documents each day. I have upgraded frequently as new versions come out and I have been pleased with the product. Unfortunately, as the quality of the product has improved, the quality of support has declined to virtually non-existent.

First, Version 10 has very specific hardware requirements that are not listed on the package. Thus I paid $200 for software that will not run on my current computers. I have to spend $600 or more to get a computer that will work. Net cost of the new software is $800 not the $200 set by Nuance.

Second, there is no way of contacting Nuance to see what the problems are. There is no more live support. "Free" support requires a credit card and payment of $9.95 for email only support. That is $10 for each email and not per problem. Phone support is available for $19.95 per incident for version 9 and 10 only...older version need email only.

Support is not user friendly!!

Unless you have a wealthy organization paying for your computer trouble shooting, DON'T BUY DRAGON, because you sure will get BURNED and your voice dictation will be incinerated!!!

I really hate to write such a negative review about such a great product. However, if you will need, or even think you MIGHT need, any kind of technical support, DO NOT BUY DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING. The added cost of support will put it out of reach of the average user.

People with disabilities, whose incomes are generally very limited, should be especially wary of this product. Adaptation, accessibility and use of any software or hardware will generally require at least some direct user support . . . but not available here.

There is no email address to contact Nuance. You must use a pin number to access an site specific message system. It seems to me that you have to purchase something to get the pin. "Speech recognition everyone can use" is a joke!!! And I have been using it for over 10 years!!! But now Nuance itself is preventing me from getting up and running using my current computers. Beware of the same mistakes!!!!

This sounds like a company that just doesn't care if their customers are happy or not. Horrendous way to do business. Good review.
