Office Max Informative - Rebates - don't count on it.
TEMPE, ARIZONA -- In October 2003 OfficeMax offered various products that I needed anyway - with rebates. Week 1 we purchased items, came home, found out the item was not in the rebate booklet. Back to the store, wait-wait-wait, get a rebate supplement. Next week, new products, new chances. No rebate coupons, though, but at least we now checked in the store. Complained that they did not give the right or complete paperwork for their rebates, they didn't care. Week 3 purchased new products, got the wrong paperwork again. Took about half an hour to get the right paperwork printed. Management plainly said it is not their responsibility to make sure customers get the right information. It was our problem to solve. Eventually we did get the right paperwork. Only one rebate was received, though. I sent an email about all the others, no repsonse. Called HQ, left messages, no response. IMHO it is their intent to offer rebates to get you to buy it. Then they don't give you the right paperwork to get the rebate, counting on you finding it too much work to go after it, so you'll never file for a rebate. Even if you sent in everything, they do not reward all rebates.
