EBay Complaint - Fraud/Extortion - Vehicle
In good faith, I tried to purchase a car from an e-bay seller. I sent the $ to E-Bay's point of contact on a Monday in Dec 08, under the belief that the seller was responsible for shipping... as stated on the invoice. I received confirmation that my $ was received. The NEXT day, (a Tuesday) I received an e-mail from E-bay Finance Dept stating that I had to send an additional $2000 to them for car "insurance" in order for the car to be shipped and that my original money sent would be kept in a secure account until I did send the $. The finance dept then said it was as per their "policy". They also said that I could not get out of this "contract" now. Vital information was withheld from me at the time the "contract" was entered into, which would have affected my decision to buy. I would not have bought the car. I e-mailed E-bay Finance Dept and told them this. I have researched and printed all their rules and policies and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that states the buyer has to provide insurance, especially when the contract - as entered into - specifically states in writing the the shipping was ASSURED BY SELLER.
I have e-mailed the finance dept, and the seller - to no avail. I have e-mailed the Vehicle Protection Program department and they have not responded. I did EVERYTHING as stated in the contract. As of March 09, E-bay has not refunded my $3800 - as per their policy.
E-bay has left a very sour taste in my mouth and I will not recommend business with them to anyone.
