Applebee's Complaint - Avoid At All Costs - Service
PHILA, PENNSYLVANIA -- Review of Applebee's 9142 Roosevelt Blvd. Phila. Pa. Date of visit Sunday 3/8/09 7:30pm. Started out for the Red Lobster. One hour wait time. Applebee's was next door with a 30 minute wait. We were seated at 8:00pm and promptly ordered, two N. Y. strip steaks with shrimp. Having had no lunch we were starving. The waitress was very polite and professional. Thirty minutes go by and no food. Waitress apologized and said shortly. The restaurant was very loud and difficult to have a conversation in. Forty five minutes go by, still no food. Waitress says any minute now. One hour later still no food. Waitress seems aggravated & upset. She says "they are clowning around in the kitchen and won't give me my food." We ask to speak to the manager. Waitress returns 5 minutes later and says the manager told her he is too busy to talk to us right now. He did comp the two iced teas we were sipping for over an hour, but can't get our food. What a guy!! I have never been treated so poorly and refuse to return to any Applebee's. This is a disgrace. In this tough economy they should appreciate a customer. The bathroom was filthy dirty with urine on the floor, soapscum all over the countertops and the toilets looked like they had not been cleaned in weeks. A clear indication of what the kitchen and food quality must be like.
This restaurant is poorly managed and should be avoided. Mostly kids working there who just don't care. Nothing more than a highend Burger King with inflated prices. There are many other places to go where they appreciate your business. We walked out & went to a diner down the street. Had a great meal served in 15 minutes. I won't make this mistake again.

Sent a complaint email to Applebee's detailing what you have just read. Four days later I get a phone call from them. Service Rep said he was sorry for the bad experience and please give them another chance. He will mail a $20 gift card for our "inconvience." Pleeze!! Let me give you an example of good customer service. Two months ago we went to the Olive Garden on a very busy night. Thirty minutes after ordering no food. The manager (who we did not request) came to our table to apologise for the delay. He comped the entire meal PLUS gave us a $25 gift card for a future visit. He treated us right and we will return. We left the waitress a very nice tip.
