Palm Complaint - Snoozing Hell - Palm Z22

Review by Brandon Starr on 2009-03-10
I love this little Palm Z22. I have had it for well over 2 years now and the battery is still good. It keeps track of everything I need it to, and it never loses data. But I have one distinct problem with it. The alarm system.

When an alarm goes off, no matter what alarm you're using, the screen activates even if you have key-lock on. And you have a choice of three buttons: Clear, Snooze or Go To...

This is where the problem is. If they had a more effective alarm system, I would not wake up, thinking I'm hitting the Snooze button, and end up hitting the clear button. I have missed two days of school to this really annoying alarm system. I just wish there were two simple buttons on the first screen, Snooze and Off, Snooze taking up most of the screen and Clear taking only a small portion, so you are statistically more likely to hit Snooze rather than Off. And secondly, a conformation message with yes on the opposite side of Clear and No taking up most of the screen like Snooze to make sure you meant to hit it. Because otherwise, you have to go back through the menus and set it again 5 minutes ahead, which, by now, you're probably lucid enough to just push yourself out of bed anyway.

This has now cost me two days of school (including today) which I can't go have a doctor's note written for hitting the wrong button. Like all alarm clocks, you should have to be conscious to know that you're really waking up and didn't just accidentally hit the wrong thing. I should be able to just hit it and know that it is snoozing rather than having me wake up two hours later than I should have.

Not slamming, but it's a palm, not an alarm clock. The alarm is there to remind you of scheduled events while you are awake.
I found several real alarm clocks on line quickly from $6-$20
Good investment if it keeps you from missing class.

Well, I'm not saying that this replaces my alarm clock. This was when we had a power outages. I use it as my backup. I have nothing else. And my alarm clock doesn't save time through power outages... It's just annoying is all. If they have an alarm feature, it should function more like an alarm and less like a reminder. They have reminders in Calender, Tasks, and Notes. They have an alarm under World Clock. It should act a little bit different is all.

You just need to quit using the snooze button on any alarm that you use. Just jump up and greet the day. Those extra few minutes you are grasping for, well... you'll get them back when you die.

Brandon, I have a similar gripe with my iPAQ 4700. By the time I hit 'snooze' and then go through the confirmation steps for it...I'm awake. So much for 'snoozing'.

LOL C2O, the snooze button was one of the greatest inventions ever! It sometimes means the difference between a great day and a real crapper of a day!
