SAFECO Corp Complaint - SAFECO Adjusters unfair - Repairs On My S10 Pickup

Repairs On My S10 Pickup - Complaint
Review by SAFECO Adjusters unfair on 2009-03-16
DALLAS, TEXAS -- Claim adjusters want to pay only $430 on my $2100 claim and will not use OEM parts. They want to use 3rd party parts. Is it not illegal for insurance companies to force you to use certain parts? Furthermore it has been almost a year since I filed my claim and they still refuse to pay. Safeco is the worst auto insurance
company to work with.

You are entitled to original parts, not 3rd party parts that can compromise the safety of the vehicle.

Contact your state's insurance board and the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

Also, get a lawyer and sue for insurance fraud.

How old is the truck? Chevy quit making the S-10 5 years ago, so I assume a $2100 claim is very close to, or beyond the value of the truck unless you bought one of the last ones made.

It is not illegal to use third party parts. And they will be quick to tell you that. What they won't tell you is that after the repairs are complete, the vehicle has to be as good as before the accident. My auto body guy looked the adjustor in the eye and told him that he would install the third party bumper, but that afterwards he would measure it with a micrometer and point out to me where the fit was not uniform. He further pointed out that they would then have to get another bumper, and pay him and my rental a second time.

I got a brand new Toyota bumper.
