DirecTV Inc Complaint - Discount Rate Bait and Switch
CALIFORNIA -- On Feb. 18, 2009, I called DirecTV to cancel my service. A representative called "Angela" talked me into accepting a discounted rate instead. That persuaded me to continue with DirecTV's service for another year. But her refusal to email or fax her offer to me for confirmation was a tell-tale sign that it was just bait to keep me on the hook!
Sure enough, the next 2 bills were higher than promised over the phone. When I called to complain, another representative called "Lisa" told me that I must be misrepresenting the offer I had been quoted by Angela. When I insisted that I was correct, Lisa blithely told me that DirecTV frequently changes its discount allowance. After some back and forth, she ended up ADMITTING that immediately after I was promised one rate per month, DirecTV "possibly might" have changed their discount policy.
Yeah, right! Bait& Switch scam artists need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau. Reading all the other complaints, I'm thinking of contacting my state's Attorney General's office.
