DirecTV Inc Complaint - Installation Is Never Free
COLUMBIA, MARYLAND -- I am a long time loyal customer of DirecTV and never had any real problems with their service, until I upgraded to HD. I recently purchased an HD television so I upgraded my box to HD. I then asked if I could move my current Box which is a DVR to my master bedroom and my standard box previously in my master bedroom to my sons room. I was told by a DirecTV employee that this was fine and there would be no charge for any of the installation. Because I was just moving the boxes from room to room. However, once the technician came out there was a charge for the DVR to be moved to the master bedroom because they had to run another line. Reasonable because it takes two lines for a DVR, willing to pay for this one even though I was not told I needed to pay this fee by DirecTV. I was then told that to move the Standard box to my sons room that is prewired I would have to pay an additional $60 a grand total of $120 to have two cables run. Then I was told that HD was another satellite and an additional fee of $90 was charged in order to go through the attic and not through the side of my house. DirecTV scams you into thinking that the installation is free however, none of the install was free.
DirecTV also passes the buck and refuses to let you out of your agreement even though their customer order clearly states free install and move of one standard box to a room of your choice for free.
