Sears/Kenmore Complaint - Kenmore Vacuums Are Cheap Crap

Review by gesucksinwyoming on 2009-03-22
I have a three-year old Sears canister vacuum. It cost about $400 new. I recently had to order a part and was taking it apart this afternoon (Sunday) so that when the part came tomorrow in the mail, I'd be ready. Well there are a bunch of little plastic bits inside that are now starting to come apart. Plus there is this gasket that goes on the hinge where the wand fits into the power head that is all coming apart.

I thought that Sears and Kenmore were brands that one could rely on to NOT be cheap and flimsy and fall apart in one's hand. But no. Also, I called the customer support line and they were just so less than helpful. Basically, because it was three years old, there wasn't anything they could do.

If I wanted a vacuum that was a piece of crap that would last only three years, I'd have spent $100 on a Hoover at the local discount store. Heck, I could have bought THREE of them by now, one a year, and still had $100 left over.

What's the point, Sears, in buying your overpriced appliances?

Is it the orange canister vac? I have that one. I agree, it sucks. I bit the bullet and got a Dyson. I use the Kenmore for cleaning the cars or stuff like that.

Vacuum cleaners should suck. That is the whole point of them. :)
