Fikes Chevrolet Informative - Tires Wearing - 2007 Tahoe

Review by angrygmbuyer on 2009-03-23
HAMILTON, ALABAMA -- August 2007 I purchased a 2007 Tahoe from Fikes Chevrolet in Hamilton, AL (my hometown). Growing up my father always bought from Fikes, so I continued to go there, but now times have changed.

As I was saying I purchased a 2007 Tahoe from there with 8712 my tires were wearing, so I took it back for help, they put me a brand new set of tires on there and aligned it so they say, but told me all Tahoes had bad tires. Then I was relieved somewhat.

Now with an additional 11,000 miles my tires are still wearing off one side, I took it back up there again, they just rotated them, said I was supposed to rotate every 6,000 miles in order to stop this problem. My vehicle has now got 19,000 total miles and now needs the third set of tires.

My family has been a Fikes Chev. And GM buyers for years, but no more. Fikes doesn't care after you buy the vehicle and GM doesn't warranty anything.

they gave you a new set of tire which aren't a warranted item. If you have alignment problems go to an alignment shop. The dealer can replace parts but not as technical with specific issues. A tire dealer is probably more qualified to diagnose the problem. I'm not talking a Walmart or goodyear, but an independent guy who has a good reputation.

This sounds like lack of tire rotation on your part(after the initial faulty tires) I agree, tires should not wear out at 8700 miles...and the dealer did do the right thing and warranty them--The first time--as Dan pointed out...So what you are saying is in order for the dealership to be one that you will buy from again, they should continue to warranty everything and you are not to be held accountable for recommended maintainance? Good luck finding another dealer.
