Hotwire, Inc Complaint - Beware of Hotwire.com!
BEWARE OF HOTWIRE.COM! I went online to several different sites, Expedia.com, Priceline.com, Tripadvisor.com, to research hotels for a trip and try to find a good deal. I have done this many times and never had a problem before with any other travel company or website, which is why I want people to know how about the problem with hotwire.com.
When I went on hotwire.com, I checked availability at a hotel for a certain date and was directed to a page to 'open an account' which required me to enter credit card information. After entering the information, I clicked to continue, and the next page said "YOUR TRIP IS BOOKED". I had mistakenly booked a night at a hotel that I only wanted to find out more information about. I immediately called the company and they said to 'read their terms, ALL RESERVATIONS ARE FINAL, NO EXCEPTIONS.' I tried to explain to them that it was a mistake I had just made, 15 minutes ago, for a room THREE months from now. I could understand their position if I'd had the room for a few days even, but I called within 15 minutes of when it was booked and IT WAS A MISTAKE. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told, 'You now have a reservation. If you do not use it, you are still paying for it.'
Basically they are not interested in ethics, or treating their customers fairly, they are only interested in their bottom line. The other websites, including EXPEDIA.COM and PRICELINE.COM, allow you to make a reservation and change or cancel it within a few days if not the day of arrival. NOT HOTWIRE.COM. NOT ONLY ARE THEIR POLICIES UNFAIR, THEY WILL NOT BEND IF YOU HAPPEN TO MAKE A MISTAKE.
THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF COMPANY I WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH, AND I WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN. I'M GOING TO DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE SURE OTHERS ARE AWARE OF THE DANGERS IN USING THEM AND THAT THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE CUSTOMER.
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO ONE OF THE OTHER SITES. THERE ARE TOO MANY OTHERS OUT THERE TO USE HOTWIRE.COM.
