Expedia.com Complaint - Someone Is Not Telling Me The Truth!
PETERSBURG, INDIANA -- I booked a flight on Expedia to Rome. Approx. 15 days out the person who employed my husband wanted him to come in a couple of days early. I called Expedia to see about changing the outgoing date. I had no problem with having to pay a fee for that, but they told me that the airline wouldn't allow it. So I called the airline and they tell me that Expedia was the Travel Agent and that it could be done with them. Now I was not just told that once, but I was told that 3 different times from 3 different agents from the airline. So I called Expedia back and again they said NO WAY. I have used Expedia for years because my husband travels internationally and within the US several times a year. NEVER AGAIN!!! I will go through the airlines, so that I know who I'm talking to. About a year ago due to an illness in our family my husband had to cancel a trip. Just so happen I had scheduled this flight through a regular travel agent, I called and was given a credit that day. Of course Expedia said that they would be glad to cancel our flight and reschedule for another FULL FARE. That works for them, sell the same ticket twice. I told the supervisor that I spoke with that we would be keeping our tickets no matter what. Even if I book through the airlines I will keep these tickets.
I have used reviews on everything from hotels-airlines-car rentals, and I they have always been very helpful. This is the first that I have ever written so here me LOUD & CLEAR, DON"T USE EXPEDIA they're not your travel agent.
With the economy being what it is you want someone that can help you when you have travel problems, not someone that says, "shell out another $1300.00 and we'll be able to help you with no problem. Go through the airline itself or through a regular travel agent. I wouldn't have gotten the phone numbers that I needed if it hadn't been for a great customer service representative at American Airlines, and it wasn't even her problem. Thanks, AA in Tucson!!!!!! It's not just me, you can read horror stories on Expedia all over the net. I just wished I'd read them before last night.
