Comcast Corporation Complaint - Unwanted Service Charge
CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE -- When trying to use the On Demand feature, a message kept occurring that listed an error number and stated to try again later. Continued trying for the duration of evening. Still nothing and tried again next day. Same message. Called Comcast and they said that they would have to have someone come out and fix it. Fine, I said. It was their box which wasn't working and not my fault or responsibility to repair. When serviceman came, all he did was unscrew cable from box and screw it back in again. The next day it still didn't work and we kept trying it for a couple of hours and it finally did work.
I just received my bill and there was a $31.80 charge for service. A service that was to fix a problem that was their responsibility. When I called customer service, they said that they could have told me how to repair it over the phone but since they had to send someone, I was charged. First of all, I was never told that they could talk me through any type of repair over the phone, as I can unscrew a cable and screw it back on as good as a cable guy. Second, this was their box that's supposed to be their responsibility to keep in working order. Third, there was no attempt on customer service to offer any type of voiding the charge, etc. Fourth, I already pay Comcast $2178.60 per year for my internet, cable, and phone. This is quite substantial for a retiree on a fixed income, and then to get hit with an extra $38.50!!
That's ridiculous. I will now be definitely looking at alternative service, whether it be AT&T again, satellite service, or whatever.
