Best Buy Complaint - Car Stereo Installation Nightmare
I purchased a Dual XDMA6855 car stereo from my local Best Buy & had them do the installation. The initial install charge was $49.99-not bad & as I was living in an apartment complex at the time was not thrilled w/ the idea of doing it myself in a parking lot. Was told it would take about an hour. It actually took over four in which time I became very familiar w/ their store. Was told they had a hard time finding a power source!? All they needed to do was come off the existing stereos power. I was charged 17.99 three separate times for a total of 53.97 for additional labor. On the ride home the dash lights didn't work & the clock was out. They have a very thorough check list on the receipt that would have alerted the installer to these problems but of course it was not followed-even though all the boxes where checked. Turned out to be a blown fuse. The next day discovered the stereo did not work on the accessory setting. This is becoming long winded-I've been back more times than I care to remember. I have paper work on four return trips & believe I was there at least three other times w/ no paper work. Now it doesn't work at all.
The gist is I got the distinct impression there is a level of incompetency & lame excuses that is hard for me to understand. If you value your car & time do not take it to Best Buy for installation.
