DirecTV Inc Complaint - Complaint - Contract 2 Yrs.
HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT -- I called DirecTV in 08/2008 due to many solicitations I have been receiving regarding their inexpensive service and abundant channel selection.
After agreeing with the monthly price and service which was a little more than they had advertised, the technician came out to install the DVR and connect the service. He then he gave me a work order to sign, not realizing that it was a 2 yr. contract...Note that I was not looking for such contract...
Nevertheless I called C. S. to find out why I wasn't informed of this 2-yr. commitment. I did not get a convincing answer. After paying the first bill, my fee changed the 2nd month for a higher rate. I called about 10 times and spoke to many reps. who all gave me different quotes for the same service and channels. I then tried to cancel this service, and was told that I would have to pay a cancellation fee of $475.00
What a shame that this kind of perpetrating scheme is running rampant in the great U.S. of A. I HOPE JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED for all those innocent customers who are being held hostage by this desperate Company's contractual agreement. I will be taking legal action as soon as I get the opportunity, and I hope others will do the same.
