US Airways Complaint - Flight Attendant Tells Me I Might Die!!!
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- As I was traveling home on US Flight#1857 and was assigned seat 9E, which I am well aware is the emergency exit row. Your flight attendant, who refused to give me her name and goes by flight attendant C, asked me with a rude tone to place my purse completely underneath my seat. I double checked that the purse was behind the bar along with the straps. She still felt the need to push my purse even more (once I arrived at home I realized she had broken my glasses) and walked away mumbling “if you don’t make sure that the straps are secured, in case of an emergency your heel can get caught in the straps, and you can fall and DIE!!!” I’ve worked in the airline industry for over six years and if I ever spoke to one of my passengers that way, the first thing my supervisor would have done is called me into his office and given me a written warning and perhaps I would have received a suspension. As she walked away I informed her that she could have been a bit friendlier when speaking to me.
She came back and gave me attitude, saying that since I questioned her tone then I shouldn’t be seating in the emergency exit because she can’t have someone questioning her in case of an emergency. I wasn’t questioning the procedures nor was I not complying; I just have a problem with the manner that she spoke to me. She was completely disrespectful, rude and absolutely offended me. What type of image is your flight attendant providing your organization when she is telling me I might die? Her choices of words were uncalled for and unnecessary. I realize we all have long days at work but the proper way of handling the situation would have been by informing me that due to your safety and the safety of the passenger around you I (the flight attendant) need to make sure that your purse is secured.
One I moved, I sat down next to one of your pilots flying home and he asked me if I was okay. I explained to him how offended I was and how discourteous the fight attendant was towards me and he offered his apologies and concurred with me. I would definitely like to see your flight attendant receive some sort of disciple as her conduct on that flight was dreadful.
