Hughes Net Complaint - Upgrading To The 7000 Modem
I just took advantage of the free modem upgrade from Hughes Net and find it is not free to me. I had to contact advanced technical support because I was unable to register my new modem. I spent 1 hr and 26 minutes talking to support and I still do not have service. I had service before the upgrade.
According to advanced tech support, the satellite that my old modem was receiving my signal from is now blocked to me as a user. They can not help me register this new modem. I am told that I will have to pay a service charge of $125.00 to have my satellite dish pointed at a different satellite.
The advertisement for the upgrade modem stated plainly that this upgrade would be at no cost to the consumer. It also stated specifically that the upgraded modem would work with your existing satellite dish.
Do you feel I should be responsible for this charge? I don't think so because I don't have a technical problem. My problem is that the Hughes Net satellite that my dish is pointed at is locked.
