Lia Hyundai Hartford CT Complaint - Don't Believe The Commercials... It's All A Lie

Review by burnie on 2009-04-04
06457, CONNECTICUT -- Automatic transmission blew up at 70,000 miles. had NOT done the transmission fluid change on time, BUT the garage I did just a regular oil change at 3 weeks ago had checked the transmission fluid, said it looked good, and I would be ready for a transmission fluid change within the next 2 oil changes. 3 weeks later, coming home from work all this metal started sounding like it was tearing apart inside. Had it towed to the dealership I purchased it from, Lia Hyundai in Hartford CT, Jennings Rd., they said although the warranty is good to 100,000 miles they would NOT be covering the repair due to me not changing the transmission fluid when the manufacturer recommended.

Sad part is I now have NO CAR...AND OWE ANOTHER 2 1/2 YRS ON THIS ONE...car is at dealership where it will stay as I DO NOT have 3,500.00 for a new transmission and I will have to do a voluntary repossession thru the lien holder which will ruin my credit. will NEVER buy another Hyundai...EVER...

it doesn't matter what you buy or what you drive. If you don't maintain it and do the reommended servicing no one will honor any warranty. I guess I just don't understand why you think they should do their part to honor a warranty when you did'nt do what any car mfctr would recommend?

It seems the garage was wrong telling you to change it within the next 2 oil changes. Perhaps a garage closer to Middletown could do it for cheaper or you could purchase a rebuilt one yourself and have the garage do it.

well i just went through the owners manual on the 05 hyundai i wrote about. under scheduled maintenance it states "automatic transaxle fluid" replace at 105,000 miles, does anyone know if that means your normal transmission fluid change???? like the one hyundai said I was supposed to do at 30,000 but the manuel says 105,000...please let me know if they are the same thing. thanks
