General Motors Complaint - Will Never Purchase A General Motors Vehicle Again
HALES CORNERS, WISCONSIN -- I purchased a 2008 Chevy Uplander from Holtz Chevrolet in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. After owning the mini van for 3 months, I had gone out to the gas station to get some bananas for my 2 year old. When I came out my mini van wouldn't start. I contacted Holtz and was able to get the van towed to their location as well as getting a rental. I was told that the start cable had some how come off the car due to improper installation from the factory (That sure makes someone feel safe NOT!). After the fixed it the next day I took it to do my grocery shopping since the service department said all was fine now. As I was driving I kept hearing like something was dragging under my van and a clanking noise every time I it a bump. I called the service department and was told to bring the van back...it was looked over (if you want to say that) and driven by the service representative He stated that there was nothing wrong with the van. When my husband arrived home he saw something hanging from my van...apparently the mechanic left one of his tool pieces that hooks up to a machine connected to my van.
I took the part back to the dealership and said that this was found dragging under my car cause it was still connected to it. I got an apology for it and told that the representative was sorry he didn't find it the first time because he is getting a little old and hearing is starting to go (I feel his eyesight too). I just took the van in again yesterday (April 16, 2009) because it is starting to give me problems again...the dash lights flicker every time I back up and step on the brakes or if I go around a corner then the tack controls go down to zero like they are losing power and the pop back on again...the battery volts for the van are suppose to be at 14.0 to 14.2 when driving or idling (Per the owners manual). Both the service department at Holtz and the GM hotline state that this is normal and there is nothing wrong with my van.
I spoke with a mechanic through GM in Washington in error when I was trying to contact another Wisconsin dealer...this service department representative explained to me that I am having an electrical problem and that it needs to be fixed...yet GM will not honor this even though I have a warranty on the van still for the 100,000 mile warranty...I only have roughly 22,600 miles on the van. I feel that I am being treated unfairly and that they are being plain lazy. I will never buy another General Motor vehicle again thanks to this experience...Nor will I ever buy from Holtz Chevrolet either.
