Earthlink Internet Service Complaint - Complaint - Internet connection
I was using AOL and then switched to Earthlink for the lower price, approx $9.99/monthly. I never received connectivity and had to keep calling them. When I was billed for charges, I disputed and complained to the company and was told Earthlink's "log" was showing my "on-line" use. I never was able to get internet connectivity and the Technician advised me after all the trouble-shooting time, that it was related to Earthlink's software being "incompatible" with the AOL software that I had on my desktop. So I deleted what I thought was AOL-related software. After doing this, I was still unable to get connectivity so I'm not sure if they billed me for their troubleshooting time AND the AOL sign-on has not worked right ever since. At any rate, I felt completely dissatisfied and because I had concerns that this might be a potentially fraudulent operation, I wrote to the Attorney General in the state of their incorporation. The Atty General wrote back to advise me they are looking further into my complaint. This was an unpleasant experience and not worth $13 savings from AOL monthly fee. I'm currently not signed up for any internet use and will likely go cable to avoid the competition "quircks" these internet companies are using to retain their customer base.
