Time Warner Complaint - New Service Already In Collections
FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA -- I signed up for cable and internet service with Time Warner Cable when I move in to my new apartment in the middle of March and everything was going fine until I got a call from a collections agency stating that my account was overly past due even though my bill was not due until April 23rd. I called the collection agency and the person I spoke to told me that because in 2008 there was an account open by someone with the same last name and according to them at the same address as me they were linking this person's account to mine just because our last names match to my surprise I guess my last name is not unique (lopez) wow amazing I thought I was the only one with that last name. Well I had to prove that that person was not me and since I just moved in I did not have any utility bills yet to give so 3 days later my service was disconnected. I went to the office with my rental agreement and was told that the collections department would not allow them to do anything to my account how stupid can it get. I spoke to a supervisor over the phone same story.
Finally a bulb light up the collections person I spoke to again told me to fax a check stub from 2008 showing my old address but to still get a letter from the utilities department showing that I just moved in to my new apartment. I did get my service back after 24hrs which they will not credit stating I did not give proof on time that I was not the person they were looking for.
I was and still am so mad at their way of making business. I don't think I should have had to go through this hassle just to prove that the person in collections was not me.
