The Dish Network Complaint - Scammed Into Joining

Review by azores on 2009-04-18
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA -- I saw a $10.00 High Definition package on a TV advertisement and decided I may switch from my provider to The Dish Network.

I called the number provided and spoke with a representative. I asked which package contained the channel Noggin, for my children. He explained the next package up for $19.99 per month contained Noggin. I was told the package contained 200 channels, with two free DVR's, no hidden fees like leasing charges and local channels were included as well. He also explained there were no cancellation fees. He explained my payments would go up to $39.99 per month after 6 months.

I excitedly welcomed the technicians into my home, and it took them nearly 7 hours to install...quite a while, they left at 11:00pm. That time includes the driving back & forth they did, since they kept bringing the wrong equipment...my day off was wasted!

After 5 days I received the first bill, in the amount of $98.00!

I called and spoke to multiple representatives until I climbed the ladder to Executive personnel, after I explained my situation to 5 people...the last one saying basically IT WAS MY MISTAKE...that "I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED BETTER".

They explained to me I had a different package than the one I thought I was getting, that the Silver HD Package doesn't even contain the channel Noggin. I had the Silver HD 200 package.

So basically the representative that got me to join The Dish Network, told me I would receive the service of an expensive package, with the low package title....what a scam!
