The Home Depot Complaint - Refund & Warranty
ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO -- I purchased a gas trimmer (Homelite Mighty Lite 26cs)on 2-1-09. Took it out of the box for the first time on 4-18-09. I could not get it started. I got a friend to help, they finally got it started, but it would not continue to run. I called them to find out about the return policy. Was informed that I was still in my 90 day warranty. I was told that I could either exchange it or get a refund. I opted for a refund, due to the fact that I was informed that it was not the first one to be returned that would not run. When the info was entered into their register about the product, I was denied a refund, due to it being out of warranty. Which they said was only 30 days. I questioned why was I told I could get a refund if they were only going to deny me? They told me that I probably had misunderstood the man that said I was still in warranty. Hmmmmm, I told them: then why would I come in and ask for a refund if I had not been told that??? All they said they were willing to do is either exchange or give a store credit. I guess this is how this company makes their money. Why in blue blazes would I want a store credit?? There was nothing else I wanted or needed.
What a rotten shame that they are giving the HomeLite products a bad name. I will see to it that everyone that I know and do any business with, does not continue to do business with them.
