American Airlines Complaint - Bumped From Flight Without Reasonable Accommodations
On 4/18/09 My wife and I were denied boarding along with four other parties on a 9:00 PM Flight 4281 from Miami to Memphis. Regulations require that AA rebooked you on the earliest flight. We were booked on AA Flight 1942 leaving Miami at 10:25 PM to Atlanta and then Delta Flight 5883 leaving Atlanta at 7:25 AM on 4/19/09. Miami AA Flight was delayed from 10:25 PM on 4/18/09 to 1:24 AM on 4/19/09. This flight arrived in Miami at 3:10 AM on 4/19/09. The agent gave us a hotel voucher for Quality Inn Motel and showed us the telephone number to call for shuttle service. She rebooked us on Delta Flight 1941 leaving Atlanta at 10:05 AM allowing for some sleep before continuing our journey. When we called the motel, the desk clerk at the motel said they did not have shuttle service from 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM. The desk clerk at the motel said that American Airlines had called and cancelled the reservations. Agents at the ticket counter with American Airlines would not speak with us. We finally asked an agent to speak to a supervisor but she said none were on duty. She listened to our story and rebooked us on Delta flight 1941.
We checked into the Miami Airport five hours before the scheduled flight and checked our luggage and received a boarding pass. Our luggage went on the original flight 4281 without us. By FAA regulations and company policy we should have been provided lodging and transportation to the lodging. This was not done.
We were rudely treated by airline agents. Although at least two agents help us, more were rude and refused to do anything. Although this airlines has at least two good employees, more are rude and definitely unaccommodating. We were denied boarding because of American Airlines overbooking the plane, and failed to receive reasonable accommodations from agents of AA who failed to keep company policies and rudely treated us.
I will file a complaint with the FAA Airline Service Complaints because of AA failure to follow their regulations and company policies.
