Dish Network Complaint - Charge For Truck Roll
CANTON, OHIO -- On 4/20/09 I called Dish Network customer service to report that not all my channels were working and I was getting a couple of errors on the screen. After going through all the resetting of the set top box settings, which took about an hour, I was told that she would need to send a tech out. I said great. She then said that it would cost me around $30($29.50 to be exact) to send out the tech. I asked her why it was going to cost me that and she said because I have the maintenance warranty, it usually costs $49.50. I said again why was it going to cost me anything at all. She responded that is how much we charge to send a tech out. I told her that makes no sense to me. Why would a company that I am paying monthly service for charge to send someone out to fix that service. I asked her if this problem was able to be resolved by me. She said no. I asked if the equipment was owned by me (receiver, dish, etc). She said no. At this point I'm pretty confused why Dish would have to charge me to fix this service. I would understand if the problem was in my wiring or TV. But, she said this was a Satellite to dish problem. After complaining with her for 10 minutes, she then said she would waive the truck roll charge and someone would be out the next day. The next day the tech came out and had the issue resolved within an hour. He told my wife that the problem was with eye of the dish and he said he had to replace the dish and eye. He also said that the old dish was out dated and they don't install those anymore. I know $30 dollars isn't much, but think of all the customers they have ripped off because of this stupid charge.
If you need a tech to come out dispute charges before you agree to have a tech come out. Why pay to have them fix their service they are supposed to provide to you, based on a contract, that you pay on a monthly basis.
